Allergy risk: Dental dam to use Yulex guayule

Yulex Corp. said it has joined with Four D Rubber to use guayule rubber latex for dental dams, a first for the material.

The plant-based, latex allergy-friendly rubber produced by Yulex is ideal for dental dams, according to Paul Tonks, managing director of Derbyshire, England-based Four D Rubber. “Yulex’s eco-friendly profile will be a positive benefit as we launch this new range of products,” he said

Jeff Martin, Yulex president, CEO and founder, said the use of guayule rubber for dental dams and other consumer products can enhance patient comfort by eliminating risk of Type I allergies.
