Last week a group of dentists in the Middle East successfully completed the first module of endodontic diploma in Doha, Qatar.
The course was organized by Professor James Prichard of BPP University, City of London Dental School.
The local support was provided by Shine Technology, a leading dental supplier in the Middle East.
A group of dental specialists from the UK participated in the teaching on the course with Dr Kannan Elias, Dr Justin Dinley and Dr Firas Daoudi.
Endodontics (root canal treatment) may be necessary to save painful or heavily broken tooth. When the pulp (nerve) becomes infected with bacteria following damage to a tooth, the root can die and the infected pulp causes pain and discomfort.
Root canaltherapy involves clearing out and sterilisation of the infected roots and pulp and its replacement with a special sealing material to prevent further infection.
The first module provided introductions to the latest root canal therapy preparation techniques and the use of more advanced rotary systems including Reciproc system.
The participants were introduced to the latest state of the art techniques including the use of magnifications in the form of dental loupes and the operating surgical microscopes under the supervision of the specialist team.
Most people still prefer to avoid losing permanent teeth even with the options of replacing it with dental implants. Hence developing the endodontic skills of general dentists is still gaining huge popularity. The team of specialist with dual skills in endodontics and dental implants provided guidance on the modern aspects of cosmetic dental treatments and dental implants
The course was accompanied by the famous Arabian hospitality and the personal touches of the participants as with the attached video.
I look forward to the opportunity to join the team on coming future modules
