How dental implants can restore your smile?

By January 3, 2016 No Comments

If you suffer from the embarrassment and discomfort of missing one or more teeth from an accident, aging or severely decayed teeth, London Smile Care can provide you with dental implants to restore your smile and bring your teeth back to a healthier level of comfort and function.

There are many options to replace missing teeth including he use of removable cosmetic denture, fixed dental bridge or dental Implants.

However, dental implants by far provides the best option to replace missing teeth with the highest success rate over long term of any other option.

What exactly are Dental implants?

An implant is essentially a small titanium screw-shaped posts. Surgically placed in the area of the missing tooth or teeth. It occupies the place of a missing root and serves as an anchor over which an artificial tooth in the form of   cosmetic crown or dental bridge is secured.

When is the best time to have an implant?

The best time is to have instant dental implants when the tooth is taken out. This will help retain your jawbone and can save many months of treatment time. One example is to have all on 4 dental implants with immediately fitted bridge for same day teeth.

However, this is not the case for all patients as dental implants need to have healthy, infection free jawbone and adequate amount of healthy bone. Hence, careful assessment is needed prior to making a decision of placing immediate dental implants

What if I was told I do not have enough bone for dental implants?

These days there are many techniques to replace your lost jawbone. Such procedure called bone graft procedure or in some cases sinus lift procedure to replace the missing bone allowing safe placement of dental implants. This can be provided simultaneously with implant placement or it may take an additional bone graft procedure to facilitate implant placement.

How do implanted teeth look and feel?

Teeth implants are custom-made to match the colour and contour of the remaining teeth, making them virtually indistinguishable in appearance. For many patients, no one will be able to tell that you have an implant. They are aligned with and function in the same way as all of your other natural teeth, allowing you to engage normally in daily activities such as eating, talking and sports.

What are the benefits of having a dental implant?

Due to their stability and natural function, implanted replacement teeth work as conveniently as real teeth do. Unlike a removable denture, you won’t need to exercise any more special caution when eating hard, sticky or chewy foods. Due to their eventual fusing with your jawbone, the implant won’t move around or cause clicking noises or discomfort to the gums.

Do implants require special maintenance?

Dental implants can be considered the closest replacement to natural teeth, they are never removed and don’t need any special care beyond normal brushing and flossing. Regular daily regime of plaque control with toothbrush, floss and the use of water irrigator, and regular visits to our experience dental hygienist for professional clean and your dental implants should last for many years.
