My front lateral tooth has an old root filling. The tooth started to get dark over time and recently became mobile and tender.
I spoke to my dentist who identified a crack in the tooth and informed me that my only option is to have the tooth extracted. However, as it is a front tooth I wanted to make sure that I wont have a gap that would stop me from smiling, eating and it wont affect my work meeting and greeting clients.
Can you help?
There are a number of options to replace your missing upper anterior tooth including the use of a cosmetic denture, fixed dental bridge and dental implant.
Each of the above options has its pros and cons.
However, full assessment is needed for each patient including clinical and X-ray examination before deciding on the best option for each individual.
In selective cases Dr. Daoudi, specialist dentist, uses immediate approach to remove the damaged tooth and replace it with a dental implant and a crown replacing the missing tooth.
Dental implants are special screws made of titanium and fuse to the jawbone, preserving the jawbone from receding.
It provides the best long lasting option to replace missing teeth.
The approach can be adapted to those patients who lost or wishes to replace all of their teeth.
This same day teeth procedure utilizes dental implants technology to fit an immediate fixed bridge (in selective cases).
This technique is called the All-on-4 dental implants. It provides immediate rehabilitation of function and improved dental appearance, due to the fact that a temporary set of dentures is immediately fixed until a permanent set is created.
With the immediate placement of dental implants following extraction, patients can avoid long-term bone recession or uncomfortable bone grafting procedures.
